Jaz and I didn’t have a trial makeup session so it was the first time I saw her on her wedding day. Good thing I was able to warm up to her family fast because I instantly recognized they’re Kapampangan, just like my Dad, so there’s immediately a common ground. I can understand the dialect because I grew up around Kapampangan-speaking relatives, but I have a hard time speaking it. I really, really wish I could though!

Jaz is very malagu (that’s pretty/beautiful), although since she’s three months pregnant she had pimples that I had to conceal. Thank god for airbrush makeup and my trusty Makeup Designory Red Corrector, I was able to make her skin look flawless without piling on makeup.

Chris is a good friend of my co-makeup artist Faye Young. She was supposed to do Chris’ wedding makeup but she was already booked by another bride-to-be on the same date, so she recommended me instead. Thanks Ms. Faye for the generosity! 🙂

What I instantly noticed about Chris is her skin, it’s obvious that she’s taking good care of it so I didn’t have to do much prepping before putting on makeup. I can’t stress this enough, but good skincare is really a must if you want good makeup work. Some people expect that makeup could magically make their skin luminous and glowing, but really, you have to develop a skincare routine first and follow it religiously before putting makeup.

So what’s a typical skin care routine? You have to:

1. Cleanse

2. Tone (preferably water based)

3. Moisturize (even if you have oily skin!)

4. Exfoliate (once or twice a week only)

5. Sunblock (during the day only; at least SPF 20 with UVA and UVB protection)

Of course the products that you’ll use will depend on your skin type, so you have to know your skin type first. For some it will take a while before you find the products that are hiyang for you, so be patient!

Carol and I met at one of the wedding fairs in PICC  last July; I was one of the makeup artists invited by Temptu airbrush makeup to give out free trial makeup in their booth. Carol wanted a natural look and I happily obliged. She has been taking really good care of her skin prior to her wedding day, I didn’t have a hard time doing her makeup because her skin absorbed the makeup beautifully.

Gem, just like my other bride Camille, is based in Singapore. We often chat in Facebook, so even though I’ve seen her only twice (during her trial makeup and wedding itself), it’s as if I’ve seen and been with her lots of times already!

Gem wanted to make her eyes chinita eyes bigger so I did soft smokey eyes on her. She requested that I put shimmery highlight eyeshadow on the inner corners of her eyes to make it somehow “twinkle”. This is actually one of my favorite techniques, I’ve been doing it on myself since I was in high school. It makes your eyes look more awake and bigger, you often see artistas rocking this look.

As for her hair, she just wanted it down. To suit her vintage theme, Dimple made a deep side part and made soft curls, very reminiscent of Veronica Lake. After hair her was done, Gem said “Ang bait ko tignan!” And indeed, she does! =)

Namimintana. Hahaha =)

Lovely flowers from Dylan of Vatel Manila

Dimple putting the birdcage veil. I like the black detail on Gem’s wedding gown, it makes the gown unique.

This album wouldn’t be complete without Meepo, Gem’s uber adorable pomeranian. I was very tempted to put him inside my makeup kit and bring him home! Oh and check out Gem’s cute Lego watch. Since I am forever an inggitera, Gem’s gonna buy one for me in Singapore =) Thanks Gem!

Bambi is probably one of the most enthusiastic brides I had. I think it took me double the time to do her makeup because every time I did something she likes, she says “Yipee!” with matching clapping of hands. Concealed her eyebags. Yipee! Smokey eyes. Yipee! Perfect shade of lipstick. Yipee!!! She could have probably bounded up and down the makeup chair a bit. How I wish all of my clients were this appreciative!

I did away with the usual natural look because Bambi wanted smokey eyes to make her chinita eyes bigger. This look really suits her because for some reason, not only does her eyes look bigger with smokey makeup, she becomes doe-eyed, as you’ll see in the photos.

I’ve also made her a Makeup Designory (MUD) Cosmetics convert. She liked the products I used on her so much she bought thousands worth of it from me, and she’s ordered another batch again. Go here to know more about MUD. =)

Much to my disappointment (and Bambi’s relief), my camera didn’t have any battery during her wedding day so I wasn’t able to take before-and-after photos. Bambi even said, “It really is my lucky day!” when I realized my camera would be useless for that day. Good thing I was able to grab these photos from the official photographers.

I am absolutely addicted to my Makeup Designory eyeshadow palettes!

Gotta love Bambi’s doe eyes =)

Hindi siya mahilig uminom noh?

Hinding-hindi talaga! =p

I loved Bam’s wedding gown made by my good friend Camille Garcia. She was my classmate in Ateneo and years after, who knew we would be working together in the wedding industry?

Ikaw na ang bride.

Also airbrushed Bambi’s sister’s makeup

Congratulations Bambi and Glenn!

The newlyweds with Dimple, me, Camille and her bf Neil. I look so haggard!

Cherrylie didn’t have trial makeup with me, so I saw her for the first time on her wedding day. I was very relieved when she liked the natural look i did on her. I was with her in the bridal car to retouch before the wedding, and she told me that she has a tendency to not do the thing that she’s supposed to do when she’s nervous. Like with her first job in a call center, she didn’t go to work. The first time she received a call as a call center agent, she was unable to speak! So thankfully, she was able to walk down the aisle even though she was very nervous. Otherwise, we would probably have a case of runaway bride!

Gwen is a close friend of Joni, who’s also one of my bridal clients. They actually had their trial makeup together last year, and I’m happy they both booked me for their respective weddings. In fact, she also wanted the same look as Joni’s, smoky eyes done in earth shades to make her chinita eyes look bigger. Here’s her before photo:

and after:

Gwen also asked me to do the hair and makeup of the whole entourage. Of course I can’t do it alone, so I asked makeup artist Gold Magtoto to help me out. She did such an awesome job, thanks so much Gold! Btw, she also sells makeup chairs and makeup kits at very affordable prices, get in touch with her (09189414529) if you need one.
