Mich
Posted by krisbacani in Uncategorized, Weddings on March 28, 2011
I instantly liked Mich the first time I met her. She has this very pleasant and bubbly personality, and it doesn’t hurt that she’s Atenista like me (though a few batches higher) so we had lots of common things to talk about.
We originally agreed on putting false eyelashes, but on the wedding day itself she decided not to put anymore because her priest discouraged it. Yes, the priest! Apparently, the priest had an experience where in the bride’s falsies, which probably wasn’t glued properly or was too long, got stuck on the veil. The bride then had to remove the falsies from the veil in the middle of the ceremony. Yikes! Although I always encourage my brides to wear falsies since it really makes a dramatic difference, I decided not to force Mich into it so as not to make her worry. Anyway, she still is pretty even without falsies
One more thing, I wouldn’t forget this wedding because I accidentally left my whole brush set in Christ the King Church, and I just found out I left it after 3 hours, right before I was to retouch Mich’s makeup in Glass Garden. I think my heart literally stopped beating for 3 seconds when I realized it! What’s a makeup artist without her brush set? It’s like a soldier going to war without guns. And I’ve about 50 pieces of brushes in my set, so losing them would really be heartbreaking (and wallet-breaking!). Good thing I had a few extra brushes with me so I could retouch Mich, then I immediately went back to Christ the King. It was a blessing that the janitor kept it when he noticed that it’s been lying on a bench for a few hours and no one’s minding it. Manong janitor, I owe you!

Phoenix Oil

Last year, my stylist friend Lila got me as the makeup artist for Phoenix Oil’s 2011 calendar and TV commercial. Too bad I haven’t seen the TVC when it aired, but good thing photographer Stan Ong was able to get these =)

Tricia
Posted by krisbacani in Uncategorized, Weddings on March 2, 2011
Tricia is my Vancouver-based bride. She seemed mataray and hard to please at first, but we eventually hit it off and thankfully, she liked the makeup I did during her trial. I’ve done her makeup four times already, and I always enjoy those times because she’s so frank and, as my hairstylist says, isa siyang babaeng bakla! She always tells me that her close friends always go to this high profile makeup artist for their makeup, but she told me that “Bat pa ako pupunta kay _______, eh bilib na ako sayo!” Sweet

Dianne

Dianne is my Kuwait based bride. We didn’t have time for trial makeup because of their hectic schedule once they arrived in Manila, so we just regularly chat thru Facebook or YM regarding the look that she wants. I always say this, but I really do get nervous every time I have a bride that books me without trial because, what if on the wedding day, my makeup wasn’t what they expected or my style wasn’t what they were going for? Good thing Dianne was easy to talk to, she knows what she wants and she trusts me. I’m so relieved we got along very well and she was happy with her hair and makeup.
What I instantly noticed about Dianne was her eyes, they looked like they belong to an anime cartoon character! They’re round and big in a cute kind of way, perfect for the smokey eyes look we agreed on.

Carol

Carol and I met at one of the wedding fairs in PICC last July; I was one of the makeup artists invited by Temptu airbrush makeup to give out free trial makeup in their booth. Carol wanted a natural look and I happily obliged. She has been taking really good care of her skin prior to her wedding day, I didn’t have a hard time doing her makeup because her skin absorbed the makeup beautifully.
